I have replaced an 6 year old pc with another of almost identical configurations. The machine is used as an interface with an RS-232 port on a metal stamping system. ON the previous box (hard drive & fans dead) there was a simple DOS batach file used to send programs to the punch controller thru the serial port. When I try to send anything to the com2 port on the replacement box I get a "Write fault error sending to device com2". The two BIOS setups for the onboard serial ports are identical. I connot figure out what the conflict is here. Any ideas out there? DC in Portland, OR |

Hi David, I have been looking around on the web on and off for a solution to your problem for a while and have come to the conclusion that your Dos app/batch probably isn't grabbing the comport properly and/or isn't setting the proper baud rate for the port. The default for the 16550 UART com port I believe is 9600 BAUD and your interface is probably at 1200 BAUD so it would be good to check. |
