i just got a radeon 7000 and it won't install with the video chip inside, how do i disable it?

Often it is disabled by going into the bios and choosing disable or there are pins on the main board to be jumpered according to the mainboard manual. If jumpering pins on the mainboard make sure your static free and grounded.

How do you get into the bios? Watch your computer start and it will say hit del to enter setup or something similiar. When it says that you have a limited time to press the key. Also be carefull in the bios as things can be changed accidentally causing problems. In the bios at the bottom of the screen it will say how to navigate or change something.

Sometimes in Windows you can choose disable or at least disable in all hardware profiles in device manager and uncheck enable in this profile.

you enter compaq 5000 bios by hitting f10 at the compaq screen.my 5000 bios is simple with only option is to select wich video card to boot.
