Hi guys, Im nearing tears! :)

ASUS Slot-A MB K7M , I know, a dinosaur.

I just installed XP (After much fighting not to upgrade), and now... None of my USB Ports would work!

My Logitech Optical Mouse stopped working,
and so did my HP 970.

What can I do? Please help:
Here are things Ive allready tried (Ill try to keep it brief)
1.Installed the latest mouseware drivers
2.Downloaded a USB util which recognized the functionality of the usb ports, and theyre both (according to the util) functional
3.Checked the bios from ASUS regarding the K7M, the latest was in 2001, which has no word of any XP related fixes (infact, doesnt mention XP at all)
4.Downloaded the latest Hewelet Packard XP drivers, same thing... no detection.

Now I know my USB ports still work, I get power coming out of them (my optical mouse powers on, no problemo.. but will not detect in winXP)

Thanks for anyone who may suggest something.
Val

first of all, does the K7M fullfill the requirements for using XP......

go here to make sure your hardware is compatible with XP:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/howtobuy/upgrading/compat.asp

i did see an A7m there, but only the "D" model. what make of computer is it? or if you built it, what else is in the computer, hardwarewise? did you do a clean install or an upgrade from 98/98SE/2k? this does not mean it is NOT compatible, but it does say that your model is or can be.

is this the model and drivers you downloaded?
http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport/swdl.pl?c=dj1229&i=dj1229en&p=hpdeskjet918370&n=hp+deskjet+970cse+printer (note that xp comes with support for hp's 970ce and 970 cxi printer drivers already)

general troubleshooting:

i almost forgot. i believe this might be useful. it's a couple links that you can use to test if your computer is XP compatible. however. some of what you have may or may not be detected correctly. i tried to do an upgrade from 98 to XP for fun one time, and it messed all my applications up. i'd recommend saving data, and installing fresh if this is correct for you.

Help..
My lexmark scan program won't work. I have a lexmark x73 printer and scanner. I am getting a message when I try to scan "Lexmark x73 usb scanner couldn't enable". The printer works fine. I had to buy a belkin usb hub adapter or whatever you call it because my dell computer keyboard and mouse had a flat plug and couldn't be plugged where it was supposed to go (in the round port). Instead of being able to plug the printer into the back of the hard drive I have it plugged into the usb hub adapter. So as it is right now

the hard drive has the keyboard and belkin usb hub in the hub ports and the belkin usb hub has my mouse and printer connected to it. I hope this makes since to someone...
