When I boot my computer the windows 98 screen shows, then all of a sudden, my computer fails, it then reads,"Can't start in DOS mode. Then my computer fails to respond.
What am I doing wrong? I've tried everything...Please Help......... |

Try pressing the f8 key just as the starting windows 98 text shows on the screen. This will bring up a menu. Choose #3 start in dos mode. Hopefully this will give you a dos prompt,,c:\. Now type: SCANREG /RESTORE and press the enter key. This will restore the registry from the last successful bootup. After its done reboot and hope. If it fails to correct the problem there are other options to try. Just let us know. |
