I have a recycled IBM 300GL ex Govt. Its (internal) display is stuck at 640x480, 16 colours. I think I need to get to BIOS to change something BUT it doesn't show the setup code during POST. Does anyone know what to do to get to BIOS setup?

Try the f1 key during the post. In some cmos settings there is an option to turn that message on or off.
