BIOS Utility is entered by holding F2 while the ThinkPad logo is displayed after power on. |

Sorry wrong info. I had the wrong thinkpad. For the Thinkpad 380ED, with the unit powered off, hold the F1 key down and power the unit on. Keep F1 held down until the bios setup appears. |

I have an IBM thinkpad 600E. I need to bypass the lock password in the initial startup process? |

AWARD_SW or AWARD_PW work about 80% of the time on Award bios. 589589 works on some AMI bios. Toshiba laptops can bypass the password by holding down the left shift key during boot-up. Some IBM's can be cleared by holding down both mouse buttons at boot-up until the computer boots. There is probably more but these are a good start. |
