I've got a problem that's really beating me up here. I'm working on a computer that has a pc100 mainboard in it which has onboard sound. The chipset onboard is the soundpro ht1869v+. When the computer detects the soundcard it see's it as a cmi 8330. Now no matter which driver I use it loads the exact same thing. Now in the device manager it shows that the sound card is loaded and working fine but I get no sound in windows. Now if I install the dos drivers I can get sound but only in dos. If uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. The volume control is not muted and the speaker is plugged into the correct spot. Any help would be appreciated.

Tried the m/b manufacturer? Hate to say it but I'd probably disable the on board sound and stick in a cheap 16bit card that I know is gonna work if you get no joy from them. Which drivers work in Dos? The Crystal Media ones or the other?

Sounds exactly like my experience with an Intergraph video card. Until Win98, it had to be the Intergraph Intense 3D driver. Non-operable trying to use the Rendition Verite 1000 driver. Installed 98 and it was exactly the opposite.

Anyway...check out:

They have the rundown.

Help - I'm mystified! Trying to get sound for my PC100 mainboard. W98 cant find CMI8330 and Opti16 drivers on the mbd CD. Speakers work elsewhere. A Windows Sound System card nor a BTC 1817DS neither work. W98 can't seem to find or install the 1817ds drver, but it can supply the WinSndSys driver which installs . . . but in neither case does any sound result. What am I doing wrong. Are these cards only to work w/ 16bit and not 32bit setups? Help!

Not sure I understand Bob. Aren't the CM8330 and Opti16 both soundcards? A friend had an Opti16....there were no dedicated '95 drivers we could find as the card was so old. There were only Win3.x drivers which we could install at the Dos prompt and allow to load in the autoexec.bat but it was hardly ideal. He ended up paying $NZ25 (about $13 US)for a new cheap card that was fine. Go to one of the sound/audio links on the main page here {http://www.windrivers.com,http://www.windrivers.com} is probably a good starting place and look up your Crystal Media and Opti cards). If you're talking about your m/b offering these as intergrated sound.....maybe one of the others can help.

mea maxima culpa (= stupid, stupid, stupid). I just found I was trying two different cards for a motherboard that not only had Soundpro on-board (mb = TX-Pro-II),but also had the plug connectors and all staring at me from the rear of the tower. After this was pointed out to me, it was fairly simple to remove cards, uninstall drivers, then install the correct driver from the PC100 CD. Works great. They say the memory goes first . . . it may be the eyes! Thanks all, with apologies!

We've all been there, but most of us don't have the chutzpah to admit it. Thanks for letting us know...

Hello there helpers. I am desperate...
I have a p2-350 cpu 100herz freq. 8,4 gig hd. 64mb sdram.
BXTOO-m767v mainboard.
problem :
I have the win98 0P sys. and all drivers installed and functioning. But when I install a FRITZ COMM card ISDN i keep getting the PCI BRIDGE and PCI NETWORK DRIVER request from the device manager. I have checked the plug and play bios to activate it and the sys tells me that it is not available. I have checked for the bios.vxd file and it is there.
Question :
Is there a setting in the bios that I must change, some sort of cach setting so that my pci cards will be recognised and their drivers can be installed?

I bought a PC100 Socket7 M571 MB, got the system built and fired it up and starts up fine, but go into the bios and it freezes up when you try and change the settings. I unplugged everything from the MB except video (onboard AGP), to no avail. I even put in PCI S3dVirge, disabling the AGP with jumper(according to manuel). I got a message that said battery low a couple of X's, so replaced it with exact same one, still same problem. When in bios, when I try to change the settings, what happens is it allows me to change them for about 5 seconds, then freezes up. Any help would be much appreciated . . . . Thanks in advance.

I don't use the chat things,so I can't say for sure but I suggest looking in the program for preferences or controls to see if the settings are turned down or muted. It sounds like it's probably software related.
