Hi Tonny, you will need the product code from the back of the PC to do this. Enter the Number in a google search as IBM Personal Computer Model XXXXXX where the X's indicate the number. Or Post it here and I will give you the links to go to at IBM for info.

I have a HP Compaq Presario 6420nx 1.8GHZ 256M 80GB HD, the problem is it will not boot up all I get is a blank screen.
The first time i started it it asked if i wanted to enter setup press f2 if i wanted to install the format disk press f10, then it was gone and now it shows all black. I removed everything , the batt, and moved the jumpers to clear cmos.
I removed the mem and put it back,I have done this routine 3 times and The last I installed one piece at a time (modem ,dvd ,cd rom) I dont have any hair left to pull and i am slowly slipping into a mental coma!

If you formatted the disk you just wiped everything off of it. Reinstalling your operating system should fix it.
