I have an Abit BH6, PentiumIII 500MHz, 20Gig Maxtor HDD, 50X Acer CD-ROM. When I install games from the cd-rom to my HDD after 6-10 sec into installation the "busy-light" from the cd-rom goes off and the cd-rom keeps spinning for several seconds, then I get the blue screen saying "can't copy to drive c". I have installed a different HDD, so it is not the hard dirve! Other then that I have no problem with the system, I can copy huge files (~500Meg) from my other HDD to my primary HDD without any problems, my cd-rom plays autio fine and play games fine. Only when I install things from the cd-rom I get this. Any ideas guys.

Hi,

Knowing those Acer 50x drives it is probably faulty. Anything above 32x just seems to be pretty unreliable.

The quickest way to fix it without messing about would be to try another CD ROM drive in that machine. oh and as obvious as it might sound, check your discs are not scratched, the faster the drive the worse it is at reading stuff (like that is important or something)

If it isnt the CD-Rom drive then it could be the IDE drivers, we had a lot of problems because we installed some ide drivers in win98 when we were using some via motherboards, it caused all kinds of problems, and you could forget getting a CD writer to work.

PS Also try finding the most recent CDROM drivers for it. But it is probably just faulty.

Hi,
I saw Rahmat said he had a P3 installed on the BH6, wich, at least as I know, is a P2 motherboard. I know that is only a Bios problem the diffrence between P3 and P2 supporting boards. So i'd like to know where can I find the Upgrade driver, if any. Thanks! XaNder
