I just reinstalled Windows98 on my pc and was reinstalling the software for my Agfa Esmile digital camera. All my settings are the same as before, but now my camera won't talk to the pc. The camera says PC when I plug the cable in and the serial port works fine with my Palm docking port. I downloaded the patch from Agfa but it did not help. Any suggestions? |

Did you use the same version of Windows 98 as before, or did you upgrade to Windows 98 SE? I know that Intel had a problem with a version of their camera, stating that it was not supported under Windows 98 SE, but works fine under the original 98. You may also want to determine if the serial port is configured to use the appropriate I/O ranges and IRQ. Windows allows the different configuration of the COM ports, but below are the default settings, that most programs recognize. COM1 should be I/O - 3F8 IRQ - 4 COM2 should be I/O - 2F8 IRQ - 3 COM3 should be I/O - 3E8 IRQ - 4 COM4 should be I/O - 2E8 IRQ - 3 |

Thanks for the help, it's the connector on the camera I have found as the culprit. Another camera connected fine on my system. But it does work fine on SE, I was using SE before and after. Thanks for the quick reply! |
