Hi. I have a question about hacking, and IP addresses. Supposing a person online had ONLY my IP address, could they still hack me, like through a message board or something? My ISP says that they could not discover where I live from this small amount of info, but does anyone here know differently? I'm worried about my online security. Any info would be greatly appreciated, and I would love to have it as soon as possible. Thanks all have a great day and feel free to email me. |

anything's possible if the person's good at it. which is why most places tell you not to give your IP address out to anyone. of course, once you go offline and return. you get a new IP addy from the server. but for people that have "always on" connection such as dsl or cable. it can be a problem. some go to the effort of every few hours, they disconnect from the net and re-connect to get another IP addy. ergo, some install firewalls and routers to protect themselves. but it's still possible to get a trojan in e-mail that can act as a server and be controlled by the party at the other end that sent the infected e-mail or anyone that detects those ports as vulnerable. security is a never ending issue when there are idiots that have nothing better to do or have a beef with someone. |

ok ill tell you how hacking works. i am a cable user and simply if someone has my ip they cant do anything. its not how good the person is, The only way The windows operating system can be backed is by trojans. and when i say access i mean taking control of the computer. thats what trojan do, other trojans steal passwords / credit card info and so on. some idiots out there say they have your ip, basically all they do with it is port scan for trojan installed ports. if you have a virus program scan your system, if you have no trojans installed your safe. also , always check your win.ini located in c:\windows make sure where it says: load = run = make sure those are erased., some programs like printer software i have seen be in there , but still make sure its empty , i rarely see software put there exe run from there. there also is msconfig, you can open this from start, run , and type msconfig and then go to the startup tab and uncheck what you dont want to run. if you see somethign that says scanregistry leave that checked. all that does is everytime you open your computer, that file automatically updates your register settings so you stay backed up. but i dont think its really good, cause it can backup trojan info. now some people say real programmers can hack. i'll tell you how its done when they hack, they dont actually get access to control your computer. they have other functions. basically this triggers when you download a program and it has alot of vonerabillities, or bugs you know when you update your windows system at microsoft.com it has IE vunerability detect patch 1.0.0 or whatever. download those! what those do is close up bugs or vunerabilities in that program , each bug can do different things, thats only when people discover them. don't worry about them much, kids that have alot of time on their hands which are mostly the leet type they wont straight directly come onto you to try it out, they try it on companyies, and how they scan to find who has it i cant say, but i provide the info. to find out more visit this page: www.geocities.com/justsarmen/main.html |
