Hi. I am running a 98>machine and am having troumendous dificulty running scandisk and defrag because of something writting to my hard drive. I have heard many ways to by-pass this, but these are all cheat ways, such as safe mode and doing little tricks in order to stop other things from running. Lease as many of you probably no. are not generic answeres. After a long search on ways to shut down anything that might be writting, i have decided to run both scandisk and defrag from dos. However i can not run defrag from dos so i have chosen to take the root of useing a floppy disk from dos, but i can not figure out how to install a copy of the systems defrag onto a floppy. If someone can please help me that would be much appriceated. Another question is, would a boot disk have the defrag option? i currently do not have one, nor the resources, but if it were possible i would take the time to make these arrangments.
plese help...
and remember
- the computer is only as good as the people it has interacted with. 'DK'
