hi all, what a great idea this site is im glad i found it as i have a bit of a problem,
i recently deleted the w32 magistr virus from my pc and ever since (although it could have been happening before i knew i had the virus) when i boot up a messsage box appears saying
"no isdn devices found, please install an isdn device and run the configuration wizard again"
now you would think i have a cable modem but i dont thus why im being prompted to install an isdn device i do not know,
i hope someone can help,
thanks Tony

Chances are that the virus left behind a run= statement in your win.ini file. Look for a line in there that says:

run=cfgwiz32.exe

If you find one, write it down so you can put it back if you need to, and then delete it from win.ini. Don't forget to save. Then reboot and see if the message goes away. It may be that that file is still infected. Unless you get an ISDN adapter, you won't need it, so I'd suggest deleting cfgwiz32.exe from your machine. Make sure your antivirus definitions are uyp to date and run your scanner again. w32.magistr is a nasty little monster, better safe than sorry. Look at:

for a write up on it.
