I have a AMD TBird 900mhz/256mb/40G/GA-7VM motherboard w/viakx133 chipset. AMIbios V1.22 and Running Windows ME.

I am losing system resources sometimes down to 7mb of available physical mem. After checking ALL my systems, I found this in the System Information:

Components/Storage/Problem Devices -
Problem Device: ACPI IRQ holder for PCI IRQ Steering

PNP Device ID: ACPI\*PNPOCOF\00000002

Error Code: 22

The system starting running improperly after I loaded an older Mustek Scanner, and a USB to Parallel Cable (to put my printer on) on the same day.. The printer is a MultiPass and I soon found out it didn't want to be on the USB so I took it off. The scanner nor my Iomega Zip 100 will go to the USB > Parallel either. (BTW)

I have since uninstalled the Cable drivers, the Scanner and the Printer. (and now cant get the printer back on the system.)

When the system boots occasionally it does a *Updating Hardware database* that either freezes or takes at least an hour to complete.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have checked the BIOS and don't know enough about it to mess around a whole lot! And there are No conflicts showing anywhere.

Your help is Very Much appreciated. I have messing with this thing for 2 weeks and am about ready to SCREAM! there i feel better now.

Thanks.

hi
i'm not familiar with win me. i use win98
but
have you checked to see if irq steering has been disabled
go into device manager>system devices>pci bus>irq steering tab-is the use irq steering box checked
if not re-enable it and see if it helps
you'll need to reboot, maybe a couple of times for it to update things
then maybe you can find a configuration to work with the devices your trying to use
if you don't like what it does just go back and set it the way it was before
maybe this will help
