I can still drag up and down, but not left and right. Note: The mouse still MOVES left and right as well as up and down, but when I hold down the left button, only up and down. This happens in all windows and on the desktop. The RIGHT button works for dragging, but not the left. EG: If I try to draw a "select" box in a blank area of the desktop, only a vertical line appears. When I shook it in frustration, it came back for a second once or twice, but then it went away again. It's probably a broken connection - anything I can look at and fix easily, or must I send it to the landfill and get a new mouse? And if the latter, any best buy recommendations? I have Win 98, PII Celeron 266. Just hoping against hope there may be a quick fix. |

Yes, I opened the back and cleaned the rollers. I don't know how to open it further. It's a Mitsukio 3=button mouse. |

If you shook it and it worked for a bit then I would suspect a short in the wiring at the mouse. Try wiggling the wire connector at the mouse end. Try reseating the mouse at the tower and then checking the mouse software for orientation, et al, and see if this helps. |

I have the same prob ...but I really suspect mine is software related. I would like to know how to remove all that has to do with 'mouse' ...and start over. |
