Oh, and if it's accompanied by a message about "floppy disks fail," it's generally either a loose connection (either power or data cable) or the floppy drive has died and you need to get a new one. |

Crap! My first post disappeared into the ether, but I said: Check if data cable is on backwards. On the motherboard, the red stripe on the cable should be where Pin 1 is. Check the board to see if there's a 1 written there, or check the owners manual. On the floppy drive, the red stripe should be toward the red wire on the power connector.
