I was having some problems installing my new printer when the computer froze with the printers intalion disk in it and when I rebooted it I couldn't get the drive open! what can I do to fix this problem? |

Well, chances are pretty good that you will need a new cd-rom. If the tray won't open when you press the button, it's probably broken. They are real cheap now, so it's not that big of a tragedy. The trick is getting the cd-rom out of the drive. Usually there is a tiny hole somewhere on the front of the drive. It's just big enough to poke a bent-straight paperclip through. Bend a paperclip straight, and poke it in there. If you bend it nice and straight and push it firmly about an inch into the hole, the tray should pop out just far enough so that you can grab on to it and pull it the rest of the way out. |
