I'm trying to simply install a new second hard drive onto my windows 98-running computer so that i can have linux on a seperate drive. i thought installing the extra hd would be the easy part, but i'm getting a weird error i don't know how to fix. windows loads fine if i just switch on the pc, it recognises there's two hds there and assigns proper names etc etc.. and all is fine.

if i shutdown and reboot, windows loads fine again.

BUT... if i restart from windows, my pc reports errors which include that there's "a windows protection error. please restart your computer".

can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong here?

thanks in advance!! :)
