I made a smaller (2 GIG) partition on my 20 gig maxtor drive. Everything worked fine for months. I used it to back up my files while I reformated the Primary partition (C: ). After I deleted the larger partition with fdisk, the smaller one changed from a DOS partition to a Non-DOS partition. Is there any way to get that info off the partition?? I don't want to reformat it, because I have all of my back up files on it.

By deleting the larger partition you have removed the master boot record so the machine has no idea how to access the disk. At least I think that is what has happened. You could have just formatted drive C without removing the partition and all would have been OK. I assume you havn't got a rescue disk so try to get hold of "partition Magic" you may be able to retrieve the data from your 2Gig drive with this program.
Good luck
Rob
