did you check to see if the floppy cable or power connector to the floppy drive was inadvertently loosened when you were working inside the case? did you check to see if something else is trying to share the same resources as the floppy controller? how about in bios. is the floppy drive set correctly? some suggestions |

I checked all of the above and found nothing. I thought maybe that particular cd burner or the software might be the problem, but can't seem to find any info on either of their web pages. any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

was another floppydisk tried to be sure it wasn't a corrupted disk? maybe it's coincidental that the drive needs cleaning. i've had drives do that when the heads needed cleaning. you can get kits for that purpose. do you have another drive to try in it's place to rule out a dead drive? or another floppy cable. does the floppy come back if the cd burner is disconnected? or uninstalled, including software? some more ideas |

I did try several other floppys but had not tried removal of cd burner or replacing floppy drive. I was hoping for something software related. I guess nothing is as easy as we hope. it'll take me a couple of days to get back there to try these things, so I'll check back this weekend. thanks again. |
