hi today i brought a 3d prophet 4000 xt from hercules. i followed the guide closely and it doesnt work. its being recognised but i cant use it. the problem is its detecting my onboard ati rage pro chip. ive tried going into device manager and removing it but when i start up the computer it automatically tries to instal it. if i plug my monitor into the 3d card it acts like a second monitor which i dont want.could some one please tell me how to disable this chip. id be very gratefull. reply with anyinformation u need id be happy to give u as much info as i can |

You need to go into the BIOS Set-up and disable onboard video - save your changes and computer will start and Windows should find your new video card. |

Sometimes you have to place a jumper correctly on your MOBO for it to disable the onboard memory. The Jumper setting depends on the type of board. If the above suggestion doesnt work, I'd try going to the Company website and seeing if they have any info regarding it. When I placed a 3-D card in my HP. I had to e-mail customer Support for the information. My BIOs doesnt allow me to disable it. I had to set a jumper on my MOBO. Hope that helps. |
