Here is my newly assembled system: Athlon 1.4 Ghz Gigabyte 7DXR mobo 512 MB DDR RAM Matrox millenium G400 agp Gigabyte Dual BIOS Now the problem: When I turn the system on, all the fans come on, the hard drive and cd-rom both turn on, and the initial boot screen comes on (the one where it does the memory check). It recognizes the memory ok, but freezes right after that. The power button will not even turn it of (I have to flip off the switch in the back). I am completely out of ideas, so any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe |

ok, this is brand new? does the bios need an upgrade to recognize the 1.4? i'd ask that first, if it's the 1600XP athalon, (1.4 gig), i had to get the guys i bought it from to put in a duron, then upgrade the bios to so it could see the XP cpu. then put the XP back in and start loading the os (win98se). i am using an asus board. that's the only way i could get it to read the processor. |

Joe, I recently had the same problem. It turned out to be the hard drive connected incorrectly |
