I recently bought a new modem. I can get on the internet without any problems however when I attempt to play online games, a regular activity for myself, my pings are terrible. For example when I play the game on a server I get a ping of 600 to 999. In Dos when I ping the same server it takes 150ms not 600. Is it possible there is a conflict between my PCI graphics card used in the game I'm playing and my PCI modem? Before you suggest it, I have all the latest drivers. I am using Windows 2000 and would very much like you to guide me on this matter. Thankyou very much, Jon Robson |

I had a similar problem with my modem connect. I installed a new Zoom fax modem, supposed to be one of the best pci modems. My pings went up from around 180/200 to 400-500. I finally resorted to putting my old ISA modem back in and my pings went back down to 180/200. Strange! I never did figure out why but I thought it had something to do with the error correction. Having to resend information. I gave the new modem to my wife who is happy to have it over her old 28.8. Wish I could help you out but that's my only experience, I now have cable. WOW! what a difference. |
