I have a Gateway Solo 2500 laptop that worked fine for a year, then stopped working all of the sudden. I didn't mess with anything, and all of the sudden I got no POST, no display. I replaced the RAM, but since it's a laptop there's nothing else I can really do with it. I've built and troubleshot MANY desktop computers, but I'm lost with this laptop. I can't even get the damn thing opened up to see the MB and CPU.

Also, the laptop gets power with the battery and the power adapter. The power LED turns on and I can hear fans, the HD, FD, CD Drive, and everything else spinning and working fine. I've also tried removing the battery, connecting video to a monitor, removing the HD and FD. Thanks for the help!

Bad motherboard or CPU probably. At least thats what Gateway will tell you and they will just replace the motherboard and CPU anyway. If you have any Data that you need to save on it, It would be a good idea to do it before you send it in.

I got the computer for free, and since it's only a 333MHz, I don't think it's worth buying a new CPU or motherboard. Any suggestions as to what I could do with it? :\

Whoa.... checked the resale value for a 333MHz laptop? Getting a new cpu/mobo and then reselling it would be a better idea.

And besides, it would not work as a anchor. There is not enough weight to hold itself steady.... Just a thought, what about rigging it to be a mouse trap? :)
