I have what I believe is a Matsonic Model 5010 mother board with Award BIOS id of 03/03/97-i430vx-02071997c-00. The CMOS battery has died and I cannot locate the battery on the motherboard or the battery connections. It sounds like a simple problem, but the techs at the store where I bought the motherboard cannot find it and the techs at my office cannot find it either. We are all stumped. If anyone has any information on where the battery is, please respond here or drop me an email direct at drist02@earthlink.net. Thanks, Don |

It probably uses the older style Dallas real time clock and Cmos battery, look for what looks like a small, possibly black, rectangular box near the power supply connector. |

You guys are good! I also have a Matsonic board and spent an hour trying to figure out where the battery was. I couldn't have found it without you. My battery was in a small black case (aprox 0.75" x 1.25") labeled "Houston Timer" right next to the power supply connector. It's a DIP style plug so you can pry it off the mother board easily. Then you have to pry the plastic case off the IC chip, and volia - there's the 3 volt lithium battery. Mine was down to 1.6 volts. |
