I added RAM to my Presario 7630. What a pain, had to remove drives and more to get to slots. After putting all back together I get no video signal and monitor light stays yellow. I tried removing new RAM, same problem. I removed ALL RAM, same problem. Drive (floppy and CD) lights flash at startup and thats it. Is it MoBo, Video, something else ? Whats easiest way to test or troubleshoot ? |

Oh boy, where to start? memory issues and Compaq's go together like peanut butter and a bag of frozen dog poop. If the memory you installed wasn't designed for use on the Compaq it may have very well corrupted the data on the harddrive, caused irreperable damage to voltage Rails on the mainboard. If the memory was Compaq certified, it may be something as simple as a connector not in place on the motherboard (Some Compaq's have the boot bios installed on a small partition on the HDD, no bios no boot). |

Thanks ..I rechecked everything (3 times) and got lucky, after switching Dimms around reseating all connections, and a few choice words ..I'm up and running again. |
