My Western digital Caviar 32500's on board controller died.
All of my graphic designs are on this drive and back up was accidentally reformatted. The drive is OK, but has bad controller. I need to fine a working drive with good controller Or just a controller. Help for a damsel in distress.

Hi Sue, if you have a source for used computer parts you can usually pick up WD Caviar 32XXX any one will work just swap the board retrieve your data and you are done. You might try an online search with Google. I have 2 functioning drives here that are 32XXX but are still in service at the moment, otherwise I would be more than happy to give you one.

I am in the same boat with a Maxtor 8gb model #88400d8

Can I simply buy a controller board? I saw some drives on Ebay w/ same model #...but I heard that revisions within the model #'s can screw up the drive (if I use wrong controller)?
