I have an IBM computer with sure path bios.I can't find any info on Sure Path, any help would be appreciated. I put a new harddrive in and it won't even find it. The bios tells me that there is no harddrive installed and it gives me a configuration change message (configuration change 1762 and 162).Cables and power are hooked up right.

Are the drives switched properly.

The bootable hard drive should be on ide 1 and set as master.

The second hard drive I would recomend being on ide 2 and set as master.

The first cdrom I would recomend it be on ide 1 set to slave.

Here is a quote from another forum "I think the "1762" error relates to the drive or CD ROM, while the "162" error is just a general error code to indicate a config change."
Also maybe try another cable.

Have not worked with surepath. Do you get the option to enter heads/cylinders/sectors/ etc.??

Is the main drive the only drive on the cable? If not, try removing the slave.

Try setting the drive to be single.

a few suggestions

I have an IBM 7585P02 industrial computer with SurePath BIOS. I want to install a 30G byte hard disk on it, but it allows to access only 8G bytes, even with running EZ-BIOS. Any clue how can I overcome that limit or upgrade SurePath BIOS?
