For some reason in My Computer, audio cds are shown as Audio Cds, but 3 different software audio players don't even recognize that there is a cd in the drive, with two different drives. If I explore an audio cd, all the cda's come up and if I click on one it opens the associated player but does nothing. I can't think of what I might have done in between it working and it now not working.

Are you sure that your sound card is working and the audio cable is connected from your cdrom to the sound card?

Windows Media Player has determined that it can't read my CDR drives digitally. And when I use Creative Play Center2 (I used be be able to 'rip' to MP3 with this player on my old system), I get a message that tells me that it can't read 'digital audio's com device'.

Similar problem, CD plays even though no player app is open to control it. If I open a player it says there is no cd playing. If I close the player the CD continues to play. No idea why or how to correct this. Any help is welcome.
