I currently have a 4GB hard drive with Windows 98 and am going to upgrade to a 20 GB drive. On the 20 GB I am going to put Windows ME full version. How do I go about transfering certain things from the 4GB to the new harddrive? Also what is a good brand of CD R/RW that is in the mid price range? |

Since I can't type worth a darn, it's much quicker to say, "Go to Google and search for Transfering from old to new HD and you'll find quite a bit. Now we know why my posts are usually very brief. ;-) |

i use ghost to back up the old hard drive to an image file. then either install an operating system on a new hard drive and pull the data off the image, or transfer the whole enchilada to the new hard drive effectivly making the new one an exact (but the hard drive is different) copy. as far as cd r/wr, i have a usb one that only reads to 8X, writes max of 4X, best writing at 2X. it cost me $200 from fry's in sacramento, maker is pacific digital. i had it when i had the old pc and no openings for drives, am considering a newer r/wr now. this one takes approx 35 minutes to burn a cd, which is ok now, but if i need it faster, i need the new burner. |
