HI,

I have little confusion over this topic. I have searched on the web but unable to conclude right answer. IDE supports 2 devices whereas EIDE supports 4 devices, Does this means that single EIDE controller with single cable will support 4 devices. If so, will there be a special EIDE cable ?

1 eide cable supports 2 devices. a total of 4 devices can be hooked with 2 eide controllers. the only way around it is to buy a separate controler which will give you the capacity of 8 drives. unless you go scsi, which can vary
