I have a dilemma I hope someone has a fix for. I have a Plextor 16/10/40A CDRW that refuses to autoplay a mixed mode cdr in XP Pro. Plextor has a firmware update to fix this issue but I am unable to flash because the software refuses to recognize the Plextor is installed and functional. However the CDRW works fine both reading and writing as long as I don't run a mixed mode CD immediately on power up. Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated. |

Would it work if you booted with a bootdisk into DOS? I know xp doesn't do DOS at all but with a bootdisk you can get to DOS. Question is, will the flash software will work in DOS?
Or, have you tried moving the CDRW to a pc with a different OS. |

Hi Vera, thanks for the response. I contacted Plextor and their response was the firmware update is not really needed if autoplay is selected for the CDRW using a utility like tweakui for XP, which it is. I tried the DOS method but the flash program won't run. I'll build a 98SE box and try flashing with it.... |
