Please can anyone help me - I am at my absolute whits end............

Im sure its a few hardware conflicts - so here they are :

1. My computer keeps freezing, whether its on the internet or offline.

2. When I start the computer up - b4 I do anything - I get the message "Computer has Performed an illegal operation" - I press close but am able to carry on - but I know this shouldnt happen.

3. I seem to be using up a great deal of memory when I havnt actually got that much on the hard drive.

4. My sound is sometimes all 'bitty' - I presume that this is because of the mentioned conflicts.

My computer stats are:

P III
256 MB
15 GIG Hard Drive
733 MHZ
Windows 98 (2nd edition)

Please - if anyone can help me - my e-mail is as follows:

pwildber@aol.com

If you can offer me any help or need to contact me regarding more information needed in order to offer a possible solution please do.

Ill give a free Lolly Pop to the 1st person who can help me :)

Thanking you all in advance.

Paul

Is there any more info to the illegal operation message? Are there conflicts showing in device manager? Can you give a list of IRQ usage? Have you tried F8, start menu, step by step and loading drivers one at a time to if if there is an offending driver?
For the mem issue have you checked in start>run>msconfig in the startup tab to see what's running in the background? Disable everything except what is needed.

Some things to start.

OH Your gonna have to do better than a lollipop!!!

:)
