I have an old Sharp PC-3030 Notebook. My son changed the system and setup bios pasword. Now I need to recover an important file, and my son does not remember the password. I live in Chile, South America, and Sharp has not representative to help me. The information I can read at startup is as follows: Phoenix NoteBIOS 4.0 Copyright 1985-1995 Phoenix Technologies Ltd. Build Time: 04/18/96 15:15:36 CPU=Pentium 100 MHz MagicGraph NM2070 40K SVGA BIOS Version 1.14 Copyright 1994-96 Neomagic Corp. VESA VBE/1.2+ BIOS Extensions Enabled I disasembled the notebook, and has a soldered battery. Also has a chip which I removed about 1 hrs, and still request password. The chip is printed with Flash N28F020 150 U6100752 Your help on how to remove the password, and to identify the motherbord will be highly appreciated. |

http://sharp-world.com/sc/c-center/c-center.htm#AMERICA http://www.sharp-usa.com/products/FunctionGetService/1,1286,24,00.html are sharp's web pages for contact in the americas. unfortunately, when you remove the battery, it may cause problems when you get it working, so you'll have to setup the bios again most likely. you can try to contact sharp via the web page's e-mail function and ask what they can do for you, to reset the bios password. they should have a backdoor for it. of course, most manufacturers need proof you are the registered owner, so be ready to give them your info when requested. |

i have got one IBM ThinKpad 340cse laptop, my friend has gifted me before leaving to states. But he forgot to provide me the password. This pc is provided with security features, as soon as i start the pc one small (lock type icon) comes up on the screen to enter password, the manual states that there is no other way to enter into the bios without entering password or visit to the authorised dealer to have the password cancelled, there is no dealer in our town.I have tried everything like desktop pcs ( del, pressing J key while booting etc).Ihave solved this type of problem many times by clearing CMOS/BATTERY IN DESKTOP PCS. I have little knowledge about hardware. In this case I DEASSAMBLED the laptop but did not find any CMOS battery to my surprise, I have gone through the whole manual nothing about the motherboard /cmos mentioned. please help me |
