Hi all
I have just decided to upgrade my mem from 256mb DDR to 512mb DDR, so i bought another stick of DDR after installing the stick onto my K7S5A motherboard, it booted up ok reporting 512mb of ram installed so all was well until i decided to play some games, this is were my problem is! all the graphics are all washed out also everthing seems to lag, like clicking on icons within games, when i take the stick out everthings back to normal again! this is also the case when i try just the new stick! thing is this is the second lot ive bought as a took the last lot backing thinking that it was an icompatability problem! but it seems not to be the case! the 2 sticks i have are Kingston & Samsung! do i need both kingston or samsung? any help would be great thanks, also what about taking the 2 sticks back and getting 1 stick of 512mb DDR?
Thanks in advance.

well, it might be an incompatible stick, as you stated, you might try a different brand as recommended by the motherboard manufacturer. some brands, such as goldstar memory, work better in FIC boards, but are hard to find. this is an older socket 7 board i am speaking of, using another speed, or brand made it unstable, or didn't work. this is just an example of an incompatibility. i'd say your problem is motherboard specific. it wants a particular brand, and you should be able to contact the maker of it, or have to buy new different sticks, to test it out, which can be expensive, unless you can bring it to a shop that's willing to do it for a small fee, or free, if they can make a sale.

yes, you might stick to 1 brand of ram, which is easier, or try the 1 stick 512 megs, but if the board has a problem, them you still need to try different brands to get the proper match.
