I have a Compaq iPAQ 10/100 Fast Ethernet PCI Card and I get all the drivers setup and everything the way it should be then I try to access the internet and I can only access a few sites(few I found)

http://www.godaddy.com/
http://www.weather.net/
http://www.teamdr.net/
http://?????.mchsi.com/

are the only sites I found I could access.
At the bottom on any other site is says Opening http://www.????.???/ but then it comes up DNS error or some error like that, i forgot what one. I went to Compaq.com and got the driver for XP Pro but it still won't work. Any ideas? It is working somewhat because I can access those few sites and I can download off a few people on KaZaA but I can't get on MSN Messenger or Yahoo Pager. Thanks for the help.

I got a new NIC today, a Belkin 10/100 Fast Ethernet Card. Still the same thing. Is there something I have to turn on in XP or in the BIOs? I have tryed everything to my knowleged and asked a few friends on MSN for help but nothing I tryed has worked, I e-mailed Giga-Byte about it to see what they had to say, wating for a reply from them now. Any help would be apprciated.

sounds like a setting in winxp for network or internet explorer. check either your security, or tcp/ip. ping the modem, ping yahoo say..... then try it with internet explorer, dns error are likely the cause of an improper setting to get to your isp's dns server. if you can get out to check the settings you have to have with your isp, then recheck that your setup matches.

I also tryed both cards on this Compaq with an onboard card, same thing. The settings for IE are ok seeing how it works with the onboard. I was thinking a setting in XP but I been though all that, changed everything "I" could find, I might of missed soemthing though, I'll try again tonight.

Ok I got internet working on it. It turns out I had to register my new NIC with my ISP. Thanks for all the help.
