Basic problem- can't get sound to work on the rear channels of my 4.1 speakers. Ok - basic deal - got a set of computer speakers for free (Cyber Acoustics 4100) 4.1 speaker system. Hooked it up to my E-machines PIII 500 CPU with integrated sound and found out that it has only 2 speaker capability. Went out and bought a cheap 5.1 sound card (AOpen 850) - had to take out my phone modem to install it - but installed it nonetheless. At any rate - after some fooling around with Win98, I finally got sound - but again only in the front channels. What to do? Any suggestions. I switched around the connections - the rear channels work just fine. |

the sound card works for dual front and rear? as in surround sound. either that, if you want to just get sound, you can go to radio shack, or something like that, and purchase a Y connector. plug it in the sound, and plug the front/rear speakers into the appropriate connection, you'll have sound alright, but not the type i am thinking you want. that's the easy way, to get front and rear. without all that, you may have to check the latest drivers: http://club.aopen.com.tw/downloads/default.asp?chose=true&sel=category&by=Sound%20Cards&selcategory=PCI&selmodel=&selcategory1=close&seltype=Driver&selpage=13 the utility: http://club.aopen.com.tw/downloads/default.asp?chose=true&sel=category&by=Sound%20Cards&selcategory=PCI&selmodel=&selcategory1=close&seltype=Utility&selpage=5 and the manual: http://www.aopen.com/tech/download/manual/sound/sound_pci.htm troubleshooting guide: http://english.aopen.com.tw/tech/rma/sound/default.htm xp driver download page if you plan to run XP: http://english.aopen.com.tw/tech/download/sound/aw850.htm from one of the forums at apoen, concering win 2k, but it may apply to you: If your motherboard has onboard sound disable it either in jumper setting or in the Bios setting to avoid conflict with the card. Also, try to download and install the drivers from AOpen website this might help make the rear speakes works! http://english.aopen.com.tw/tech/download/sound/aw850.htm another question.... it isn't the deluxe model, is it? good luck. |
