I have two computers that had Win95 on them and the monitors worked fine. About halfway through the installation progress, the monitors went haywire and they display VERY poorly. I tried putting a new monitor on both of them and that didn't work. So I tried putting a new video card in them and that didn't work. Any suggestions?

what's the system(s) specs?

sounds more as if the software didn't get installed properly, may try to reinstall the video drivers or try a clean install, saving data first.

Well, the installation went fine until the point came to start entering information about the user and the key code. The Win98 splash screen appears fine, but when it comes time to login to windows, it looks horrible.

ah, you may need to install an updated directx and also the video drivers.

It would be almost impossible to install them because I can't hardly see the screen.

can you swap with another video card so you can uninstall the current drivers, then switch to standard display driver? then uninstall the drivers and shutdown to install the card again after you're finished?

I have tried to switch video cards, but it still gives me the same results.

possible the system is trying to change the refresh rate to what the monitors can't handle. what's the screen like? lines vertical?

it just looks horrible. When a dialog box opens, it stays on the screen even after you close it only it's choppy looking. When you open another, it does the same thing to where they are stacked on top of each other.

ok, what installation.......what operating system were you trying to install, you need to give all your system's hardware specs. are they old monitors? some of the old ones can't handle newer cards or newer computers. may have to see if you can get a hold or a new(er) monitor for a test.

they are old computers with win95 already installed. I did a clean install (fdisk, etc.) and installed win98 and now I have the problem of the poor quality. I have attached a different monitor to them and it doesn't work, and I also installed a different video card and it didn't work either.
