I've had the problem the entire time I've had this setup. Everytime a sound occurs, all the speakers let out a nasty click, then when the sound is over, they let out a similiar click. If I turn the sound down really low, it is less noticable, but also, I can't hear sounds as well. And if I have the sound up to normal, it is VERY annoying. A fix is to have, say, a CD playing all the time, which doesn't require the speakers to 'initialize' so to speak. This does away with the clicking, but I don't want a CD playing all the time, naturally. It is expescially annoying with AIM, every time I recieve a message *CLICK*BEEP*CLICK*. Very nasty. Any thoughts? XP Home AOpen AW-850 Sound Card AOpen 5.1 speaker setup (I can get the model number if it is really important, I think it's 9600 something) |

i'm assuming you mean the default sounds that come with the programs you mention. try going into control panel then to sound and removing the sound for the action. if there are any program settings to disable sound for them, try that first before going to sound in control panel |

Nonono, any sound what-ever ever creates this clicking. Sure, by turning off all the sounds on my computer I could do away with the clicking, but I'd also have no sound, which kinda defeats the purpose of having a 5.1 speaker setup. Say my mIRC client says 'Incoming DCC File Transfer' there would be a annoying speaker click before and after the sound. Same for AIM, or any Windows event. |

I wouldn't bother with AOpen's site. I have a feeling it's just cheap quality that causes this. I was just wondering if there was some tricky fix to trick the speakers to always play an inaudible noise so that they're always initiated, but I can't hear them. |
