My matrox g200 graphics card has stopped displaying the boot up sequence (no dos or checking memory etc) - the monitor only displays anything when windows kicks in. This happened on win 98 and now xp. I have re-seated the card several times without luck and tried a different monitor - same problem.
would really appreciate any advice as I need to get into bios to install a 2nd hard drive

Try going into command prompt only by pressing the f8 key and choosing it from the menu. If it displays there it's a good chance that in cmos the post display could be turned off. I have seen this on some motherboards.
If you know what key to press to get to cmos just press it a few times when the computer starts up. Most motherboards use the delete key to get to cmos, sometimes f1.
