i found the files needed for the driver installation :

Creative ensoniq audio pci driver files : -

a3d.dll
eapci95.hlp
enres16.dll
ensmix32.exe
ensqio.vxd
es1371.vxd
mixres32.dll
es137195.drv
sndscape.ini
starter.exe

i copied all these files to one location, and the installation is succesful as well (this happens when i manually install by choosing add new hardware --> sound devices --> creative--> creative ensoniq audio pci and each file is installed) but still there is no sound ......

also how can i get an .inf file which points to these files or which helps install these files coz when i choose the "have disk" option, it asks for the .inf file which is not there...

Please help!!!

Have you looked in device manager to see if the sound is really installed? Is there a yellow speaker next to the clock?
Another location for sound drivers is DRIVERGUIDE.COM. You will have to join and get an username and password, but it's free. Once your a member just do a search using the word ENSONIQ. There you will find many versions of what your looking for.

When you downloaded files from the creative website did you download SBAUDIOSetupus.exe and sbapw9x.lib files? Have you installed directx 7 or 8?
In device manager is there anything listed under SOUND,VIDEO AND GAME CONTROLLERS?

What happens when you click on SBAUDIOSetupus.exe? Do not use ADD NEW HARDWARE when doing this. The exe may be a compressed file.
