Alright. I'm very mad. This is my reason why.

My PNY GeForce 4 Ti 4200 64mb video card freezes on me in OpenGL and only OpenGL. Direct3d runs fine but its very slow. This happened sometimes when I installed the new detonator 40.71 betas, then more when I installed the 40.72 certifieds. I have tried:

Going back to detonator 30.82 drivers.
Reinstalling games and apps that run OpenGL that would cause my computer to freeze.
Reinstalling DirectX.
FORMATTING MY HARD DRIVE AND REINSTALLING WINDOWS

I'm running windows xp professional on a 1.3 ghz pentium 4, 382 RDRAM @ 800mhz and a soundblaster Live! mp3 + 5.1 sound card. I've concludded that this is a hardware problem considering I formatted and I still get the same freezes. Still, THIS ONLY OCCURS IN OPENGL. Direct 3d and software rendering in games such as Half-Life and Unreal Tournament (the first one) run fine. (With the exception that I can only get 30 frames in Direct 3d and somewhere around 20 in software rendering.)

Games that have frozen include:
Unreal Tournament 2003
Medal of Honor Allied Assault
Half-Life: Counter-Strike
One time as well a plugin for winamp froze.

If someone knows whats up please respond or leave a private message. I'm getting extremely pissed at this card. I payed 200 bucks for it at the beginning of summer. Thank you.
Cecil

Two items to try. Check and make sure 3d rendering is set to full. The second item is check the refresh rate of the video card and set it to default or optimal.
