I have a system that is capable of going up to UDMA66 support. I want to add another 40GB HDD to it, and I am sure that my bios can support it. The question is, however, will my system be able to use HDD marked at ATA100, or even ATA133/150? Also, is UDMA66 the same as ATA66? |

Most systems with UDMA ATA66 support will run a Harddrive with ATA UDMA100/133 but at ATA UDMA66 only. Keep in mind that an off board solution such as a Promise Ultra100 or 133 off board pci controller will allow the drive to run at it's rated performance. |
