Hello. I have a 1.4Ghz Gateway and a 130GB Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 9 harddrive. The Bios would only recognize this harddrive as being 9Megabytes.

I tried flashing the bios from P10 to P13 -- so it is at its latest revision.

I've also run the Powermax Maxtor diagnostics software. Everything checks out as being physically fine, but still only shows up as 9MB.

I have created a 98 Boot Disk with the latest FDISK and tried to remove and recreate the primary partition, restart and reformat, but the drive still only formats at 9MB.

I'm at my wits end. Someone said something about the drive being "locked"? -- if so, how can i unlock it? Is the drive bad? Thanks for any advice!!

perhaps an obvious question but is it formatted so that win 98 can read it as a FAT 32 disk

is this the first install or a drive that was previously working without problem?
