I purchased a new Athlon 2100+ processor and asus A7N8X motherboard. I set up everything and started up the system and it recognized it as a 1300 mhz processor/mb combo (13.0x100), so I went into the bios, changed the external frequency to 133mhz and and the multiplier to 13.0. The sytem booted and ran fine and the boot recognized the processor as an Athlon 2100+. I'm using 2 512mb sticks of memory, PC2700, Crucial. One odd thing I noticed is that the system said the speed of the memory was 166mhz on boot (perhaps because I bought PC2700 ram so that I might someday be able to upgrade to a fater processor with a 333 fsb). After using the system for about 12 hours w/o any problems, i restarted to clear some memory leaks. Now the system does not boot at all. I don't get a ram check, no signal is sent to the monitor at all. It's not the video card, I swapped that with another with no effect. I also took out the ram and tried each stick separately to see if I had a bad stick, but that didn't have any effect either. Any clue what the problem might be? |

If your getting power to the hardware devices and nothing after that, then the cpu is the first suspect. |
