On win 98SE using an A/B Switch for two printers. After an unwanted intenet visitor wiped out many applications, I now have a situation where both printers will respond to a diagonistic check and print out a test, however only #1 will respond when trying to print a document. When I select #2- the message"no default print selected- " Going to Control Panel and selecting it as 'Default' does no good. It spools the job but will not print it. Going back to #1 will respond. The MS diagonistic was usless. Thinking of deleting #2 and reinstalling? Any better ideas?

i would uninstall whatever seems to not work and reinstall them just to be safe. that should put things back to right, unless they won't uninstall using add/remove, which in that case, i go into the registry and edit it all out (which is advanced and most home users wouldn't know what keys or values to delete), but then i can reboot and re-install the drivers safely after. if you have a problem such as this, i'd take it to a knowledgeable pc tech, and have him/her do it for you. but first try the easiest option i mentioned first.

As is normally the case, after the message was posted, I simply opened 'settings' / 'printer'- deleted #2 printer then added it back again and all is now A-OK.
