I wanted to know if it is possible to network two computer with direct cable connection so that you can access the internet from one account on both computers?

No. There are several shareware programs available that will allow you to share an ISP over a peer to peer network (you need a rj45 crossover cable and two 10-base-t or better network cards to do this). Win 98 Second Edition also has ISP sharing (proxy) built in, but you will still need to establish a successful network connection with the aforementioned hardware in order to make it work. There are (I believe) several companies that make kits for establishing such a network. This is an advanced area, so be prepared for some frustration. Good luck
