Can't record

when i try to record, there is nothing there. I have checked the plug in, the volume, the mute and i have tryed the mic on another computer and it works fine there. Please tell me what else i can look for or have i lost a file needed?

My questions to you are what type of soundcard do you have? Software? Does it play sound? What operating system? If your card is SoundBlaster and you installed the Creative Labs software like it tells you to, most likely the Creative software disabled the mic by default. The program "Creative Mixer" (if I remember correctly, my roommate has the same problem) can be found under the Start Menu in the Creative folder. Look through there if you have the software installed.

check your volume control. It may say your mic is unmuted but the record option may be muted. Try this. Open up your volume control and and then go to options and select properties. Then you need to select adjust volume for recording. There is where you will see if it's muted for recording or not. Hope this helps
