I've just built up one of the new Shuttles, with the nForce 2 chipset, and an XP2200 T'bred, (512MB PC2700 from Micron).
Initial start up seemed promising, got as far as partly installing XP Home on a brand new WD Caviar SE. THings started to go wrong. Got a blue screen with a pattern on it. THis pattern changed from time to time - never seen the likes before - then the computer shut down. It will not even enter a POST. I'm building this for my 12 year old, who needs some encouragement right now. Can anyone help. I've tried anothr brand new drive - no difference!
By the way - should I have formatted the new drive, or should this happen as part of the process of installing XP? |
