My computer is a 2000 Compaq Presario. A couple of months ago my dad replaced the hard drive. We used the Restore disks that accompanied my computer to install all the programs that came originally with the computer, but I noticed that not all the programs had been installed so I tried the Restore again. All the programs are back now, but the drives are messed up. For one thing, my D: Drive, which I guess functions as a backup to the C: Drive was there at first but after booting up a couple of times, it is gone. My re-writable drive does not work now. (I have tried the Restore once more, but it took me a month to get the computer running again.) I'm at a loss to what has gone wrong. Any ideas? |

I would physically unplug the cd writer and boot the computer up. Then shut down and plug it back in. Hopefully it would recognize it as new hardware. Make sure you touch a screw to ground yourself before touching any internal components or wiring. |
